TDSB’s Aboriginal Education Centre is hosting a pre-launch of Wab Kinew’s new book The Reason You Walk on
Wednesday October 28th, 5 – 6:30 pm.
The book is the story of Wab’s reconciliation with his father, a residential school survivor, the impact this had on father and son and the ongoing journey to move beyond. It is most timely with the recent conclusion of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, at which Wab was an honourary witness.
You may know Wab Kinew as a musician, social activist, CBC broadcaster and as host of the 8th Fire Documentary series (available via the Virtual Library -- on CBC Curio). The official book launch date is Oct. 29th so this is an early opportunity to hear Wab tell how he came to write this story and to ask questions about the book.
November is Aboriginal Education month in TDSB. This is an opportunity to extend your circle of knowing.
